Review: New Super Mario Bros. Wii

I’ve had New Super Mario Bros. Wii since the day it released back in October, but only recently beat the game, hence the delay with this review.  Whether you’ve played other Super Mario Bros. games or not — or even if it’s been a long time since you’ve played one — this is worth picking up.  To sum it up, this game isn’t perfect, but it’s brilliant nonetheless. Rave: Walmart Open on Thanksgiving

When it comes to Walmart, it takes no time to find plenty of complaints and criticism… and I’ll admit, I could easily write a “rant” about Walmart if I wanted to. (Actually, searching back, I already have.)  And I usually hate the way some businesses make people work on Thanksgiving — after spending Thanksgivings 2005-2008 at work myself.  But today, I have to hand it to Walmart for staying open this year… it really helped me out in a major bind. Review: The Price is Right 2010 Edition (Wii)

tpir2010-boxSeveral months ago, I reviewed the original Wii version of The Price is Right, which I received last Christmas.  When I saw that Ubisoft/Ludia were preparing to re-launch the game as the “2010 Edition,” I became hopeful that the new version of the game would correct the original’s imperfections.  You may want to read that original review before continuing on to see, besides adding more pricing games, how 2010 really compares to the original. Review: Press Your Luck 2010 Edition (Wii)

pyl-boxTaking advantage of Target’s current “buy 2 Wii games, get one free” promotion, I bought Press Your Luck along with two other game show games yesterday. (See also my reviews on Family Feud 2010 and The Price is Right 2010.  To sum up this game in a sentence: did the programmers who made the game ever actually watch any episodes of Press Your Luck on TV?  The problems begin as soon as you insert the disc in your Wii console. Review: Family Feud 2010 (Wii)

feud-boxI’ve been a game show fan since I was a kid, so when Target recently offered “buy two get one free” on Wii games, I jumped on a trio of game show remakes.  After all, if you can’t get to Television City to be there in person, a good computer simulation can be the next best thing.  One of the games I bought was “Family Feud: 2010 Edition,” produced by Ubisoft/Ludia, the same companies that made the other two game show remakes I bought.  It’s not the best video game version of “The Feud” I’ve ever seen, but it’s not the worst, either. Wii Games: Buy 2 Get 1 Free at Target

target-wiiI normally don’t post things that basically amount to a free advertisement, but this deal is too good to pass up.  Now through November 7th at Target, most Wii games are part of a “buy 2 get one free” promotion.  In 20+ years of playing video games, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a deal like that. A New Look for Peter’s Place

Hey everyone.  The site has looked pretty much unchanged since I revived it in 2007.  At the time, there weren’t as many themes and plugins available for WordPress.  The theme I was using, K2, was considered to be among the best themes available.  But it’s been a long time since K2 has been updated… [More »]

Taylor Swift's "Live" VMA Subway Ride: FAKE... and Here's Why

From MTV.com

From MTV.com

If you saw the MTV Video Music Awards a couple weeks ago, you may have been impressed by the “live” performance of Taylor Swift singing “You Belong to Me” during a subway ride up the F-train from Bryant Park to Rockefeller Center, coming up the stairs right outside Radio City Music Hall, where the awards were being held.  But many details in the video prove it was NOT live.  Nor did it even take place in Bryant Park or on the F-train.  After the jump, you can watch the video again and see the list of evidence.
