Updated 5/10: Since a Google search for pre-order deals on the highly-anticipated Wii game Super Mario Galaxy 2 only turned up mentions of Amazon, I decided to go ahead and search various retailers’ websites myself, to see what deals are out there.
The game hits store shelves on May 23 — here’s a list of pre-order incentives I found; feel free to post comments below the article if you know of any others (or if these deals are changed). [More »]

My apologies to anyone who has emailed me lately at pnaw10@pnaw10.com — for some reason, I thought the site traffic was just really slow and nobody was writing, but I realized my email program wasn’t checking that particular mailbox! For example, tons of comments on my review of “Family Feud 2010″ for the Wii… they’ve been coming in since December, but I just discovered them all today. Looks like everyone else hates this crappy excuse for a game just as much as I did! In any case… I’ll make a point of checking email more often, so feel free to write about anything you see on the site, suggestions, comments, etc.

Several months ago, I reviewed the original Wii version of The Price is Right, which I received last Christmas. When I saw that Ubisoft/Ludia were preparing to re-launch the game as the “2010 Edition,” I became hopeful that the new version of the game would correct the original’s imperfections. You may want to read that original review before continuing on to see, besides adding more pricing games, how 2010 really compares to the original. [More »]

Taking advantage of Target’s current “buy 2 Wii games, get one free” promotion, I bought Press Your Luck along with two other game show games yesterday. (See also my reviews on Family Feud 2010 and The Price is Right 2010. To sum up this game in a sentence: did the programmers who made the game ever actually watch any episodes of Press Your Luck on TV? The problems begin as soon as you insert the disc in your Wii console. [More »]

I’ve been a game show fan since I was a kid, so when Target recently offered “buy two get one free” on Wii games, I jumped on a trio of game show remakes. After all, if you can’t get to Television City to be there in person, a good computer simulation can be the next best thing. One of the games I bought was “Family Feud: 2010 Edition,” produced by Ubisoft/Ludia, the same companies that made the other two game show remakes I bought. It’s not the best video game version of “The Feud” I’ve ever seen, but it’s not the worst, either. [More »]

I normally don’t post things that basically amount to a free advertisement, but this deal is too good to pass up. Now through November 7th at Target, most Wii games are part of a “buy 2 get one free” promotion. In 20+ years of playing video games, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a deal like that. [More »]

This review is a bit late… I received The Price is Right for Wii and DS for Christmas. It’s rare that I get the same game for two different systems, but I figured the Wii version would be best for “normal” play, and the DS version would come in handy for road trips.
Right now, the DS version is on loan to a friend out of town, so I’ve barely played it enough to fairly review it at this time. But I have the Wii version here. Overall, a very good reproduction of the game, but, just like with any other computer version of TPIR, there are some minor imperfections. [More »]

At first, I was planning to write a rant about how several Nintendo Wii game titles are still selling for full price, nearly two full years after their initial release. It was annoying me that “The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess” is still $49.99, while many other games have long-since had their prices reduced. But now that I finally broke down and bought it… I can understand why this game still commands full price. [More »]

But you don’t have to take MY word for it. Just read the negative review from the Associated Press, which landed in the Wii’s own News Channel the other day! (I’m sure Nintendo was just thrilled to see a review slamming its product, being distributed through its very own consoles.)
There’s a screen shot from the Wii at left, which you can click to see full-size. You can also read the full article, as posted on some Turkish news website.

Before I get into my review, I must tell you I’ve never been a big fan of fighting games. The only reason I ever played “Super Street Fighter II” or even “Mortal Kombat” was because one of my best friends at the time had both games, we always hung out at his house, and it was all he ever wanted to play. I just played for lack of choice, but never really got into it enough to learn all the combos, special moves and such.
Even now, I don’t know all the special moves — nor do I plan on taking the time to learn them all — but the chance to play as Mario, Link, Zelda, Samus Aran and dozens of other popular characters from every major Nintendo series greatly outweighs any opinion or dislike I’ve had for any other fighting games in the past.
