Don’t get me wrong: I am not anti-bicyclist. I am a bicyclist myself, with 180+ miles under my belt so far this season alone. But I’m also a motorist, and it irks me every time I notice bicyclists who put themselves in danger by not complying with the rules of the road. Yes, just as drivers have laws to obey on the roads, so do bicyclists. [More »]

They’re called YIELD signs, you brainless morons. Yes, that means you don’t necessarily have to stop. IF THERE’S NOBODY COMING. Otherwise, contrary to your popular belief, you MAY have to slow down — or even STOP. That’s right — where the car stops moving and you let traffic pass by. [More »]

In New York State, it’s against the law to hold a cell phone up to your head and talk while you’re driving. You’re supposed to use a hands-free device or speakerphone instead. Still, many people can’t be bothered, and it’s quite evident how this affects their driving. [More »]

It’s about time! We’ve all heard of people getting tickets for driving too fast. We’ve also heard it’s “dangerous” to drive too slow — but how often do the cops do anything about it? As one Tulsa TV station reports, police in Oklahoma are just as pissed off as I am, about slow drivers in the passing lane. Check out this video (you’ll be subjected to a 15-second ad first, but it’s well worth it). I wonder how long until we can get Troopers to take the same approach to slow drivers in E-ZPass lanes!

Let’s call this one a “2 for 1″ rant. I’ll get the first one out of the way real quick off the bat here. While I wish to rant about idiot drivers on the New York State Thruway, the image at left (“borrowed” from Google Images) was taken along the New Jersey Turnpike. Why don’t we have 55MPH lanes on the Thruway yet? Our “fast” lanes are just 20MPH, and they just started appearing within the last year. Better than the original 5MPH lanes, but it seems many people still haven’t noticed the difference. They are the idiot drivers I wish to rant about today. [More »]

Yes, it’s already time for the next installment in the “Idiot Drivers” rant series. This one is plain and simple.
People seem to think being in the merge lane of an interstate highway means they have a God-given right to blindly enter the flow of traffic. [More »]

You know you’re approaching a road work zone when you see an orange sign like this one. Right now, these are a pretty common sight on the interstate highway between my home and my job.
If you’re like most people, as soon as you see that sign, you make sure you’re in the proper lane, well in advance. But you know there’s always that one idiot driver… [More »]
