I work in a television newsroom in a medium-sized market. Needless to say, we get a TON of e-mail every day… from viewers, from co-workers, from managers, and most of all: from various companies or organizations looking for coverage. There are 3 really bad habits in many press releases, which I absolutely hate. (And a few others that are pretty close runners-up.) [More »] |

Taking advantage of Target’s current “
They’re called YIELD signs, you brainless morons. Yes, that means you don’t necessarily have to stop. IF THERE’S NOBODY COMING. Otherwise, contrary to your popular belief, you MAY have to slow down — or even STOP. That’s right — where the car stops moving and you let traffic pass by. 
Even before Barack Obama was sworn in as President, he was pushing Congress to delay the DTV transition (which, technically, should be called the “analog TV shutoff,” since digital TV is already on the air). He wants to push it back four months to June, to give people more time to prepare. I think that’s a big, steaming load of B.S. People have had more than enough time to get ready. 
It’s that time of year again… I work in the news media and when the weather’s really bad, our phones are flooded with schools callling in delays, cancellations and early dismissals. That’s all fine and dandy, but every year, I really get fed up with many of the “non-school organizations” that want their closings on the air.
Rant: No Outdoor Syracuse Crunch Game
The Onondaga County Legislature is a bunch of morons (most of them, not all of them) for killing the idea of an outdoor AHL game at Syracuse’s Alliance Bank Stadium. There are so many reasons why these people were just plain stupid in their actions, I don’t even know where to begin. [More »]
