I’ve officially opened the website for my new DJ business, Peter Naughton Productions at http://www.PETERtheDJ.com today. If you’re in Central New York (Syracuse, Utica, Oswego, Cortland and all points in between), check out my competitive prices. To help get things going, wedding receptions booked before October 31 (they can happen anytime through the end of May 2011, but just need to be booked by Halloween) will get a discount of $25 off my hourly rate. That’s just $100/hour for a professional DJ to do your wedding reception!!

My apologies to anyone who has emailed me lately at pnaw10@pnaw10.com — for some reason, I thought the site traffic was just really slow and nobody was writing, but I realized my email program wasn’t checking that particular mailbox! For example, tons of comments on my review of “Family Feud 2010″ for the Wii… they’ve been coming in since December, but I just discovered them all today. Looks like everyone else hates this crappy excuse for a game just as much as I did! In any case… I’ll make a point of checking email more often, so feel free to write about anything you see on the site, suggestions, comments, etc.

Hey everyone. The site has looked pretty much unchanged since I revived it in 2007. At the time, there weren’t as many themes and plugins available for WordPress. The theme I was using, K2, was considered to be among the best themes available. But it’s been a long time since K2 has been updated… [More »]

An important update about this very website — many of the direct links to articles have changed recently. If you have links to articles that look like this:
www.pnaw10.com/archives/###
…then they need to be updated. Please use the search function near the top of the page to find what you need and adjust your links accordingly. Thank you.

(3/23/08) One week ago, I announced a problem regarding a plugin that connects the “main” site with the photo gallery. Well, it turns out others were having the same problem, thanks to a recent upgrade by my hosting provider. Finally, the problems appear to be fixed! The link to Peter’s Pix should be working fine. Let me know (by posting a comment to this article) if you notice any problems of which I may be unaware.

After fiddling more with the “Gallery” program, I’ve finally got things set so the pages look a little neater. It fixes a subtle problem most people probably didn’t notice — or didn’t care about even if they did. Basically, pictures have been resized so they “fit” in the page. Of course, you can still access the “full size” version of any pic (ie. for wallpaper use) by clicking on the picture itself. Click again to return to “normal” size.
I’ve also started uploading some of my many train pictures. For now, I’ve posted the Metro-North and subway pictures from our recent NYC trip. The LIRR pics from that trip will be next, and then I’ll start the massive task of uploading the rest of my collection. (If you just can’t wait, most of the older pics are already up at nycsubway.org … just run a search for my name.) [More »]

Lately I got sick of the design template I was using for the site. The way it was set up, it was nearly impossible for me to figure out how to tweak small details. And whenever I tried to install a different theme, it wouldn’t show up quite the way I expected.
So, I’ve ditched the program I was running the site on, and switched to something else. I had to manually copy over every single article, so there’s a chance you may find a mistake or two, caused by that process. If you catch any glitches, please let me know so I can fix them. Thanks!
Update (Monday, 3:18am) – Finally! I figured out how to get a link to ”Peter’s Pix“ to show up in the menu bar at the top of the page AND I fixed the glitch where the text on the Gallery pages was loading so small, you’d need a magnifying glass to read it.

You may have noticed the site menu used to appear twice — once along the top of the page and again in the gray area to the left.
Today, I eliminated the version on the left since it was redundant. Just hover your mouse pointer over the buttons across the top of the page. If there are “subitems” available, they will automatically appear. You can click either the main item, or any of the subitems.
UPDATE (9/16/07): With the even newer layout, this post isn’t really accurate anymore, but it’s still here for archival sake.

One of the few features making the transition from the “old” Peter’s Place to the “new” site is pretty much complete. There are tons of sites with SimCity 2000/3000/4 info, but mine has been the only one to cover the SuperNES version of the original. So that’s the one Sim Game page I’ve moved to the new site.
In the process, I updated quite a bit of it, and added some new graphics. When I have time, I may add some more screen shots, but even as it is now, it’s better than the original. Click here to check it out.
