Lately I’ve been shopping around for electronics. We’ve been wanting an HDTV, as well as a new laptop to replace the aging/damaged one we’re using. It’s tough to find decent prices, but it seems whenever I do find a good deal, there’s a pesky rebate involved… and I’ll tell you why I hate this. »»More

In New York State, it’s against the law to hold a cell phone up to your head and talk while you’re driving. You’re supposed to use a hands-free device or speakerphone instead. Still, many people can’t be bothered, and it’s quite evident how this affects their driving. »»More
Back in November, I ranted about the New York State Thruway’s plan to raise tolls. Today, they voted to approve the toll hikes. Shame on you, Thruway Authority. Shame on you!!
When I was younger, I could have sworn every Dunkin Donuts was open 24 hours a day. Everyone remembers those commercials with Fred the Baker talking about how it was always “time to make the donuts.” Daytime, nighttime, always making the donuts. But lately, it seems being open 24/7 is more the exception than the rule. That sucks and here’s why. »»More
When a computer program has a “preferences” screen… you usually expect it to actually follow the preferences you choose. Right? That’s not the case with Apple’s QuickTime for Windows — a program that apparently prefers to think for itself. And I’ve had enough of it… »»More
Seeing as how the Rose Bowl is indirectly causing me to stay at work 40 minutes later than I should have to, I thought this would be a good opportunity to review a previous post: Rant: Network TV Sports Events That Run Late. Happy New Year, everyone!
This rant isn’t about gas prices themselves — we all know prices are ridiculously high, and we’ll probably never see them go below $3.00/gallon ever again. The problem I have, is with one of the nasty side effects. When you go to pump gas… the total goes up so fast, it’s becoming harder and harder to stop at an exact amount. »»More
At work on Monday, I spotted a story posted to the wire from a TV station in Houston. (I’d post a link, but they didn’t post the story on their website.) Since I can’t post actual wire material, the basic gist of it was, they showed video of a 25-pound cat up for adoption at the SPCA. Here’s the gem: the cat was put up for adoption because its owners had just adopted a kitten — and they were afraid the ol’ 25-pounder might accidentally roll over the kitten and crush it. »»More
We’re in the middle of a Nor’easter. As indicated in my last post, that’s no surprise… we live in the northeast U.S., hence, we get Nor’easters. It’s a way of life here. But what’s really irking me today is that my neighbors, whom we share a walkway with, NEVER shovel the walkway. Every time it snows, I’m the one who shovels. What’s worse… they have THREE kids. Two teens and one in his 20’s. The only time I see these lazy-ass kids is when they’re out under their porch smoking cigarettes (one of them illegally, mind you). Get these kids off their lazy asses and make them shovel, dammit! »»More
