Yes, it’s already time for the next installment in the “Idiot Drivers” rant series. This one is plain and simple.
People seem to think being in the merge lane of an interstate highway means they have a God-given right to blindly enter the flow of traffic.
While it’s true that most drivers will, as a courtesy, move into the left lane to let new drivers in, they are not required to do so. And in some cases, they can’t move over (like when there’s already other traffic in the left lane).
Unfortunately, three special classes of drivers;
- those who got their license from a Cracker Jack box;
- those from Canada; and
- truckers merging onto the Governor Thomas E. Dewey New York State Thruway,
believe it’s their God-given right to blindly merge in, regardless of the traffic that’s already on the highway.
If I can move over, and usually I can, I do. But guess what? If I can’t move over to let you in, SLOW DOWN AND WAIT YOUR DAMN TURN. I don’t have to (nor will I) slow down just to let you in (especially if I am on cruise control). If you’re getting on the highway, yield to those who are already on it.
