Here comes the first in a short series of reviews on new games we got for Christmas. I’ll get right to the point: this one sucks. (I paid for it, so I can bash it.) Thankfully, I wasn’t “looking” for it — Kelly loves the M&M characters, and I found it by chance while looking for other gift ideas. So, at least it wasn’t like either of us were anxiously anticipating its arrival on Christmas. Click “more” to see the rest of the review I submitted to outpost.com.
This is a horrible game. While my girlfriend is a big fan of the M&M characters, the controls, physics, etc. of this game leave much to be desired. If you’ve ever played and enjoy any of the Mario Kart series games, you’ll definitely be let down by this.
I’m not even talking about being “ultra realistic.” The steering is horrible and the courses are small and tight. Instead of speeding around the courses having fun, you’ll spend most of your time running into walls, then backing away from them.
On the bright side — at least you won’t be the ONLY person crashing… so you and your friends will all be equally frustrated by this sad attempt at a video game.
If the M&M’s company were smart… they would have asked Nintendo to make this game for them — using the “guts” of the Mario Kart programming, but with different tracks and the M&M characters. It would have been much better.
Now you’re probably thinking, “well, moron, you should have checked out the reviews first!” I usually do, but I ordered the game before it was released, and most of the top video game websites had very little information about the game, if any at all.
Other games we got for Christmas: Super Mario Galaxy and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. Haven’t had much time to play either, but so far, extremely impressive.
