There’s a wonderful website I like to visit once in awhile when I get bored… it’s called FlashGames. You can play Flash-based versions of several different TV game shows — usually just the bonus rounds (the best part). It’s all free, the games work well (unlike some other sites I’ve tried), and it’s anyone’s guess how these guys got their hands on so many theme songs and sound effects “in the clear” (without any other background noise or talking). But when I visited the site just now… it looks like SONY ruined quite a bit of the fun.
And why? It doesn’t make any sense! The games they blocked out are Tic Tac Dough, Bullseye, The Jokers Wild, High Rollers, and last and least, GSN’s Russian Roulette. Most of these games have been off the air (and likely forgotten by most viewers) for years!
Tic Tac Dough, Bullseye and High Rollers haven’t even been shown in reruns on GSN for as long as I can remember having digital cable (with the exception of High Rollers, shame on GSN). It’s not like SONY is releasing its own version of these games, so why the hell do they care if someone else gives it a shot? SONY may not be making money, but at least they’re not losing any money because of FlashGames, and I’m pretty sure FlashGames isn’t making any money either.
On a side note… if you actually cared enough to read this far, you p
robably are somewhat familiar with GSN. Do you hate “Playmania” as much as I do? It’s on every. Single. Night. For two hours — which happen to be the two hours right after I get home from work. And it’s the same old crap every night. Ditzy blonde (or more recently, occasional stoner guy) stands there begging people to pay 99 cents to send them a text message for a chance to get on the air and play the game.
I wouldn’t mind it if they scaled it back to weekends, like when they first started. But 7 nights a week? Give me a break!! Seeing reruns of classic game shows is one of the reasons I wanted digital cable and GSN in the first place — I don’t wanna see this original crap! The sad part is, there’s tons of sucker viewers who sit there spending all sorts of money to get in on Playmania, so GSN is probably making too much money to just shut it down.

LOL Great Rant!!
very interesting, but I don’t agree with you

Idetrorce, care to explain why you don’t agree? I’d be interested to hear your reasoning.
They play Tic Tac Dough on GSN at 11:30 AM (the Wink Martindale version).
