Am I the only person who’s sick of hearing about Paris Hilton? She’s in jail, she’s out of jail, she’s back in again. And now, they’re making a big deal about how the poor baby hasn’t slept or eaten since she was thrown back in.
Enough! Let’s just be done with it already.
It’s really sad that, every single time there was a development in this case, the cable news outlets all went crazy with it. Sure, people love celebrity gossip, but it’s sad when celebrity gossip actually outranks real news that actually affects people.
What’s even worse is the fact this was allowed to go as far as it did. Any other person who did what Hilton did, would have been punished more severely, and quicker. How many times was Hilton pulled over for driving illegally, before they finally even took her into court? Then the Sheriff springs her out to serve the sentence at home. I’m glad he’s in hot water for that one. What a moron.
No “regular” person in this country could ever have a jail sentence downgraded to “home imprisonment” just because of a skin rash. They’d be told to just suck it up and deal. And I applaud the judge for doing that, by putting Hilton back into jail.
All too often, we hear the stories of innocent people hurt or killed in accidents caused by drunk drivers. That’s why we have so many laws aimed at punishing people simply for driving drunk, even if they haven’t caused an accident. Just because someone is deemed to be “important” shouldn’t exclude them from the consequences of that crime.
The Associated Press had a GREAT idea back in March 2007. Too bad they didn’t continue with it.
