Wii Games: Buy 2 Get 1 Free at Target

target-wiiI normally don’t post things that basically amount to a free advertisement, but this deal is too good to pass up.  Now through November 7th at Target, most Wii games are part of a “buy 2 get one free” promotion.  In 20+ years of playing video games, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a deal like that.

Giving credit where credit is due, a Twitter account I’m following, simply named “@wii“, had a link to an article about the details on a site called CrunchDeals.

Note that the CrunchDeals article is wrong: they said the games you buy for this deal must be $49.99 or more, when in fact, the deal is for games $49.99 and below.   I went to the Target store in Cicero, NY today and was unsure until I saw “buy 2 get 1 free” signage specifically affixed to one game that was priced at $19.99.

As you might expect, the deal is that the register will automatically use the lowest-price game as the “free” game.

Even though I wasn’t planning on buying any Wii games until New Super Mario Bros. Wii comes out later this month… this was too good a deal to pass up.  (And the deal will be over before New SMB Wii releases.)  Got the new edition of The Price is Right, along with Family Feud and Press Your Luck.  All three were $39.99, but I was a bit hesitant about spending that much on them (see my review of the first TPIR game for Wii).  Given one game was free, it came out to be more like $26 apiece, which is more reasonable.

The best deal, obviously, is if you get three $49.99 games.  Of the top-price titles available, I either already have them or I am not interested in them.  But if you’re still lacking great games like Super Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, Zelda Twilight Princess, Super Smash Bros Brawl or Metroid Prime Trilogy, here’s your chance to fill in those gaps.  Also available, the Wii remake of Punch-Out, which I thought was OK when I tried it on display, but never been a big-enough fan of the series to actually buy it.
